This unique, ocean-going vessel is no toy, and is best described as a “serious piece of kit”. Global Surveyor was purpose-designed for a highly experienced yachtsman to sail his family safely and comfortably around the world and is capable of voyaging to any ocean from the tropics to the edge of pack ice. A short film has been made about her successful circumnavigation while travelling to out-of-the-way destinations such as The Galapagos, Easter Island, Tonga. Vanuata, Australasia the Seychelles and Red Sea.
Her design had to promote peace of mind and be an efficient and fast passage maker, which was also comfortable, safe and robust. She can easily sleep 16 persons yet has been adapted so she can also be sailed and berthed single handed.
As an extremely rugged 70 foot cutter, Global Surveyor attracts attention wherever she goes. Interest in the vessel comes from many including charter skippers, RNLI Coxn’s, professional divers, engineers and ships pilots. It is a common occurrence for passers-by and yachtsmen in marinas to ask if they might come aboard to have a look, including on one occasion, the Captain and Mate of a nearby 160 m long, square rigged ship.
Commercially the yacht has an impressive record having been chartered by a wide-range of groups. This has included hundreds of complete novices, corporate groups and fellow yachtsmen, After her circumnavigation and 15 years of use she has fully lived up to expectations.
